The announcement of the end of Point of Light may have come as a shock, and I want to offer my apologies for whatever consternation you may have felt. I also want to offer my most heartfelt promise that this new opportunity that is here NOW will provide a better service to you, more efficiently, effectively, and with a clear eye to the next generation who are eager to learn, but wary of paper and reading.
We live in a time where the demand is ever more pressing to be fully authentic, and a magazine about sustainability based primarily on print advertising is simply not sustainable. In the last few years, the costs of printing and distributing have skyrocketed, while online advertising, when done correctly, can be far more effective and far less costly.
It is also time to demonstrate the power of working together more coherently. That means more face-to-face contact, which turns customers into devoted friends and evangelists for your business. Peaceburgh will provide the same high-quality feature articles, news and information about the latest developments in human development and higher consciousness that Point of Light did. We will also give you online tools to promote your events, offer discounts and special deals, and promote your business in a variety of ways that don’t tie your advertising options to print and paper.
The best way to view this transition is, of course, holistically, so let’s take at a typical advertiser’s annual budget. A Professional Profile or a 1/8 page ad in each issue in Point of Light was an annual budget of $740. ($185 x 4)
