A worthy question for anyone, and more extraordinary coming from the mouth of 20-something musician, singer, rapper, hip-hop artist and Pittsburgh resident Kellee Maize who has just released her second album, Aligned Archetype available from iTunes or at her website www.kelleemaize.com
Dropping beats and rhymes faster than a tarot reader on speed, Kellee has deftly transformed a genre of music not noted for positive messages into her own personal platform for change, challenge and comprehension on a deeper level. And she can sing as well as rap with amazing dexterity.
To be sure, she’s a partygirl too and quite explicit about her enjoyment of her sexuality, and why not? The theme of aligning the sacred with the profane figures here too.
As does her willful smashing of club, world, dreampop and other influences into her heady sauce of Baltimore beats. Production is crisp and clean without being too slick, which is no mean feat.
Stand out tracks include the wonderful forehead Indian-vibed Signs, featuring the wonderful ululating vocals of guest Sangya Trivedi and Big Plans - a rolling, rousing call to action.
The only thing I’m disappointed by is the lack of a lyric sheet, as Kellee’s lyrics are intelligent, sassy and witty. However, trying to catch all her rhymes keeps me listening as does her killer hooks, house rocking beats and compelling vocals.

Kellee is an amazing energy - I wish I had even a fraction of her insight in my 20's.
I really like a song toward the end of the CD about "living in the Now" - oh WOW
